I went back to Power Mgmt and selected another time interval for Standby and it worked fine for a few days. It takes a great deal longer for everything to start from a clean start, and then you have to open up all the programs you want to use. Scroll down a little ways to the topic entitled "Why Standby and Hibernate Fail" and then continue reading downwards from there as there are many case histories included as well that Unfortunately, I've yet to find one that I can recommend. (If you can recommend one, well, that's what the comments section below is for.) Not sure what did it, but if I had to guess, it was unchecking "Enable hibernation", which deletes the hiberfil.sys file, then went back and rechecked it.
