She said you just have to follow the directions and it will tell you what to do. If it is a blown fuse wouldn't the whole string be burnt out? You might also want to check the fuses - most light sets have the tiny fuses somewhere in the plug. You may also just go ahead and replace them since they are not to expensive. Those were plugged into one socket of an outlet. This change can be verified with a magnet, and is probably at least partly responsible for LED string prices not having dropped as fast as we expected over the years. It costs roughly $20 US, so this may not be worth it if you only have a couple strings of lights. Normally the bulbs have a "shunt" which shorts the bulb when it experiences full line voltage.

The hum detector has to be pretty good to show the difference between a hot wire and one which acts an antenna to pick up the hum normally around us. If you're lucky, simply plugging in the mini lights will reveal a bad bulb. "Bad" may just mean it needs to be seated more firmly in its socket. I don't know why anyone in their right mind would bother to buy these lights! She purchased in HD or Lowe's.
